Born in Chicago, Illinois and educated at the University of Michigan as an historian and historiographer, Elizabeth Hawley is an American journalist who has lived in Kathmandu, Nepal since 1960, first as a Time-Life then Reuters correspondent. She managed the Himalayan Trust for Sir Edmund Hillary and was New Zealand Honorary Consul to Nepal for 20 years. Hawley also worked with Tiger Tops from 1965 until 2007.
