Spartanburg County included a large portion of present Cherokee County, S.C. and was bordered by Greenville Laurens, and Union Counties, S.C. and Rutherford County, North Carolina. The border changes between Spartanburg, Greenville, and Union counties make it an important tool for researching those counties as well.
